Parking in Prague

To enjoy your driving in Prague you should know some specific features of its parking spaces.

The center of this city has 3 kinds of zones for parking:blue, orange, green. They are marked with white broken line and have an appropriate sign.

A blue zone is designed only for residents of the city or businesses located in this district. Cars which have a parking card are parked there.

Time of parking in an orange zone is maximum 2 hours. The cost of parking is 40 CZK/h or 20 CZK/ 30 min (30 minutes is a minimum time). Orange zones are available from 8am to 6 pm.

Parking in a green zone is allowed for 6 hours. They charge: 30 CZK/ h or 15 CZK / 30 min. Zone is opened from 8 in the morning till 6 pm ( Monday to Friday).

These lots are equipped with parking meters. The operating instructions are located on the meters. You should insert coins and get a printed check to attach it to the car. These places are free at night and you can leavie your vehicle there.

The P+R parkings allow you to park the car (mostly in the outskirts) and use public transport or underground Metro to reach the centre. These lots are opened from 4 am to 1 am. They are guarded and their cost is 20 CZK for the day time parking and 100 CZK for night. If you use a P+R parking you can purchase a city public transport ticket at advantageous price.

Some hotels park the cars of their guests and sometimes welcome visitors for an extra charge.

Republiky), Rudolfinum (Alsovo nabrezi) , Millenium Plaza (V Celnici, 10), GPKW (Wilsonova, 2), National Theatre, Slovan Garages (Wilsonova, 6), Flora Garages (Vinohradska), Nadrazi Smichov (Vyskocilova 1461/2a), Malostranske namesti, Na frantisku Parking (Revoluční street/ Vltava right bank) and some others.

Central Parking Prague in Karlovo Namesti is the newest underground garage for parking in Prague. It works Sunday – Wednesday ( 6 am to 10 pm), Thursday and Saturday(6 am to midnight), Friday (6 am to 2 am). Prices: 60 CZK – the 1st hour, then 30 CZK/hr or 300 CZK/12 hrs. The central location ( Karlovo Náměstí 292/1) is an excellent place to start your walking excursion around the city and see all Prague’s major sights.

There are some parkings at the airport . The nearest one is in the block Parking C. It works 24/7.

It is recommended not to park illegally. Otherwise the city traffic units will clamp or tow your car away. If this happens call Police 156 and get the information about the location of your car and your penalties.
